For us spring is finally here for us as the walleye started responding at Sherman Reservoir this week. The wind is making it challenging but it is worth the fight. I also heard that some are being caught at Davis Creek so will try there next week. Happy fishing to all!
Any pointers on where to catch some walleye, my brother 67 and I, 71 have never fished sherman.Thank you!
If from the shore go to camp ground at trail 11 early in the morning. You can also fish that area from a boat but other areas from a boat are across the lake from trail 11 and off the point from the permanent cabins. Good luck.
any info on what bait at trail11?
Sorry for the slow response as we have been at the lake for a few days and I only use the phone for pictures and emergencies. The most used bait there is night crawlers. Some use leaches but we don't as crawlers are easier to transport.
The Walleye are starting to slow down a little at Sherman Reservoir in Nebraska but they are still there if you are patient and do the work. The crappie are mostly under the size limit but a person can be surprised once and awhile.
We spent a couple of days in the eastern side of the state NRD lakes. The water is down compared to the central and western areas of the state. The crappie were smaller also with only a few keepers. Couldn't find any walleye in the lake we fished. Our best catch was an 18 inch large mouth that my wife caught as we were going to the dock for the last time.
Maple Creak at Leigh,NE was in terrible shape with a number of dead fish, green green water with an ugly crust in places. There was also an odor that lingered in your nose after we left without launching the boat.
