Lakes are all 40-50 miles from me

I have fished at Dale Hollow and Cordell Hull Lake without much success. I have ordered a Hummingbird Fish finder that I hope will help. I've also found that Center Hill Lake is about the same distance, but I have not been there yet. A couple weeks ago at Cordell Hull Lake I caught a small striped bass. I have a Bayliner Capri boat (rather heavy boat) so I cannot fish in shallow water, another reason for the fish finder is for the depth alarm among other things. I love Dale Hollow Lake the best for its size but not knowing how deep it was where I wanted to fish, my 100' boat anker never hits the bottom in a lot of places. I hear it over 600' deep in some places. I mainly fish with spoons, spinners and night crawlers. What can I do to catch more fish? Bass, Trout, Catfish and Bluegill would be nice. My favorite is Trout! I was born and raised in Maine, and I could catch trout hand over fist but here in TN, I suck.

I fish deep waters my shoulders can’t take heaving anchor anymore so got trolling motor with spot lock best money spent. Kind of weird at first drop trolling motor hit spot lock and boat just stays in one spot.

MH - I'd recommend getting some good topo maps of the lakes you want to fish - you can usually pick them up at Walmart or other local sporting goods stores. These would help along with your new depth finder. You can also download the Navionics App if you are into that sort of thing.

Thank you. I will check that out next time I'm at Walmart. I bought the southeastern Lakes add on SD card so I should get all that information on the hummingbird fish finder. It included many lakes in the southeastern states including Dale Hollow. It is suppose to show different depths and Arial views of the lakes. I can't wait to wade through all that information.

Welcome Mr. Hooker, I would think Norris Lake would be closer to you and it could handle the bigger boat with no problem. I think the depth at the dam is a little over 200’, but as you go upstream the lake will naturally get shallower. A spotlock trolling motor is definitely a good way to go. I have no idea if there are trout in Norris, but smallmouth, largemouth, walleye, crappie, bluegill, stripers, and catfish are definitely in Norris. It can be difficult catching at times, but it is a clean lake. Good luck.

Thank you so much but it's 4 hr 12 min (219.3 mi) away. I am going back to Dale Hollow in a couple weeks or sooner and try the fish finder. It's under an hour to get there.

My apologies, sir. I had your Lafayette confused with the Lafayette on the Northeast side of Knoxville. Thought you were doing some fast driving to get to Center Hill in 50 minutes. Sorry for the mix-up.

No problem, maybe Lafayette is just a road in Knoxville. I live in Lafayette, next to Westmoreland. I hope to do some traveling to fish at some point just to see the sights so maybe I'll see you on some lake this summer :)

There’s so much trout fishing in your area. Caney Fork below Center Hill and Obed River below Dale Hollow. These are tailgater rivers controlled by generation so best resource is the “Lake info TVA” website. Good 👍 luck tight lines.
