Opening day lingcod.

It was a tough opener for me. The slot here is 26 to 36 inches. I got some greenling for supper, but the lingcod over 24 inches just did not want to play. We were using light tackle, so the 24 inch fish like in the photo did provide entertainment even if not any table fair. It was interesting weather. The first day it never got over 48 degree and the second day it got up to 60.

That is a for sure thing. So many different species of fish, in both saltwater and fresh. If you add Eastern Washington to that, the entire state is a cornucopia of fishing opportunity. Imagine what it would be like if all of the people involved in fish management would do a better job. I think the people working in Olympia should take some lessons from the Indian Tribes in Eastern Washington. And I'm not trying to start some kind of political conversation. I'm just saying that the tribes, over there, seem to do a good job of managing their fish.
