Welcome to the stage and Texas, for cats right now go to Lake Livingston or below Lake Houston dam

I don't fish out of Cagle much, but we have been putting in at Scott's Ridge and Stowaway both north of 1097 bridge. Before all this rain started we were catching 20+ channel and a few blues using shad we caught just before dawn at the boat ramp at Scott's ridge. The shad spawn was hot and heavy and we were scooping them up with a dip net. Our target fish is crappie, but with shad you catch everything. Monday we caught 9 crappie, 3 large blue gill, 3 nice size white bass, a couple gasper goo, a couple undersized hybrids, and 20+channel cats. We started at 1097 bridge early where the shad were all over the pilons and crappie and white bass were close to the surface. after that we hit some brush piles just north of 1097 on the east side, where we caught a few crappie, blue gill and several channel cats. Surprisingly the crappie seemed to hit fresh dead shad as well as live. The channel cats were also on the deeper bulk heads between 1097 and Stowaway on the east side and I am sure on the west side as well, but the water was calmer on the east bank. We fished fresh dead shad and a cork about 2-3 foot deep. Night crawlers work great as well. We even found cats sitting on standing timer in 20 foot of water. They are everywhere right now. Good luck and Thank You for your service.
