Had one of those toothy guy hooked up today. It hit a blue back 00 AC shiner

I was fishing below the spillway of north bend lake. With all the rain we’ve had I figured it would be up some and it was but was still running clear ,they seem to travel up stream in them conditions.
I had casted across the swift water into some calm water maybe a 50 yard cast across the opening of the spillway and it was waiting for dinner there. The fight didn’t end well when it hit the swift water. It came to the top and ❌❌❌ he was gone with a sore lip. Don’t know what size he was but not a giant but at least I got a glimpse.
Bad thing is I got skunked and kinda of sprayed on lol. The lake is on the north fork of the Hughes river. I was fishing from shore.

I don't know Mike. When you get one to the boat and loose it, it's still a catch just an early release.
In your case, you saw it and it released itself. A catch is a catch.
Hope that makes you feel better.

Great story Mike, the last time I fished those waters there was not a lake. We wade fished the Hughes River. I caught my first Musky close to Harrisville in the Hughes

Have never fished for Musky but from all the tales told it seems to me like that would count as a catch!!
I just like seeing them kinda exciting.
