Planning fishing trip third week in May to Carson River, Alpine County, California. Trying to determine with snow melt if river will be fishable. Appreciate your take. Staying in Markleeville, California. Thank you! Wayne

Welcome to the stage Neil. Hope you like it here as much as the rest of us do.
That's a good question. With all the snow we have in the Tahoe area it might still be pretty high water.
I fish all those waters myself but haven't been out there yet this year. Season opens tomorrow.
It's quite possible I'll be in Tahoe around that time. We should try to get together and wet a line somewhere.

Is the Carson river dammed, and if so, how many? There should be a report somewhere of the cfm they are releasing…

As far as I know there are a couple of snow days coming on Tuesday and Thursday next week. You will have to come via Marklyville because HWY 4 has not opened yet. Also the Carson is running really high due to snow melt. Good luck and be careful. B

Don't know how high but it will be high and fast. In two weeks come back and by then should be some reports.

One thing to keep in mind is that the DFG doesn't plant trout in the rivers when it's too high and blown out.

That makes sense, just like they don't plant when too low and warm water

Agree. Which makes we wonder why they planted the N fork Stanislaus at Snodgrass Boards crossing area. That river has to be running high.

East West Fork Probably running high and brown. Alpine County and Markleeville plant the east Fork.

That's true but they usually wait till after the peak of snowmelt.
