Went carping in 66 degree Carnegie Lake this evening in the rain. Wind was light south. Air temp was only 51 degrees. Threw out a can of ShopRite extra crispy whole kernel 🌽, then caught and released a yellow perch with a 1/32 oz jig on 2 lb test line. Lost a largemouth bass that jumped and threw the hook. Landed a 13” channel catfish on corn bait. A big carp swarm into the candocks and broke my 4 lb test line on my last cast of the day. Saw a fisherman lose a big trout in the canal with power bait when he tried to hand line it over the wall but his line broke.

Morning, bands, you have strange bots down there. I would want to do a lot of drinking on either of them.

Princeton University rowing coach boat. No motors allowed on lake but the coaches use motor boats. I saw a carp fisherman catch one once.

Why is it the big ones always seem to get away?

Yes, passengers are future rowers for the rowing team.
Those are called 'sculls'. Some universities and high schools sponsor varsity teams. The sport is called 'crew'. Most of the participating universities are between Boston and D.C. I think.
As an aside for 'bands' and others Carnegie Lake is an artificial lake made for Princeton University's crew teams. Andrew Carnegie of steel and libraries fame was the donor of the land and other costs, hence the name.
Nice pics and looks like a good day to be outdoors. Thank you for sharing.

Returned this evening and another big fish 🐟 swam into the candocks and broke my 4 lb test line. Caught and released a largemouth bass with a 1/32 oz twister tail jig on 2 lb test line and a redeared slider with corn 🌽 bait on 4 lb test line.
