Got out for a couple hours today between rain showers. Had 3 nice Smallmouth and a couple dinks. It was a fun couple hours ended by me getting soaked on the ride back in. There was one shower that followed me back to the ramp. By the time I got home it was pouring so guess my timing was a little off today.

Nice catch Mike, the last one's a tank. Tightlining still? Thanks for the pictures.

Nice fish Ivey, my wife is from a little town somewhere around where you are, I think anyway. Father-in-law still lives about two hours north east of Memphis. He fishes the Tennessee River and Pickwick Lake, I've been out with him a time or two, but he's more into the catfish on the river than the Bass on Pickwick. But anyway, great fish again buddy, tight lines.

Nice Ivey, you are the smallmouth man! I know what’s it’s like to get chased off the lake. Usually the wind, even worse when it’s rain and wind. But that’s all part of the adventure right?

Fred, all these fish came on a 1/4 oz green pumpkin jig and Rage craw as a trailer. I did hook the biggest fish today on the tight line rig fished around a bridge piling. It jumped twice and fought hard then lost him trying to land it. Probably a 4 pounder but you know the big ones don't like to pose for pictures.

That pattern is something that happens on this lake when the fish come off bed. They'll gang up sometimes around the pilings in 25 ft or deeper and suspend and fatten back up after the spawn.

Very cool Mike, so you're getting into post spawn now. I hope your weather as well as ours settles down a little, so we can enjoy some fishing before the maniacs hit the water. Thanks buddy.

As always Mike you are an inspiration!! I need to get out there and chase those small jaw! This time of year is the best SM fishing around me but I’m always torn because it’s also the best time for walleye. Decision, decisions!

Tight lines

J, I have to make that choice myself. Either Smallmouth or Crappie, this year I caught all the Crappie I needed to keep me in fish for the year early so right back to Smallmouth. I wish I had your problem though Walleye is one of my favorite fish to eat but while we have them in Tim's they are few and far between and I know nothing about their habits. Maybe I should come up and get you to teach me a thing or two about fishing for those toothy critters.
