Slow on the uptake, or late to the game?

I saw on our local news that a Belgian company intercepted a pallet of Miller High Life, (2,300 12oz cans intended for a destination in Germany…I presume a Military base?) and poured them down the drain in protest of the Miller High Life catch phrase on their cans. The phrase is “The champagne of beers”.
True champagne (or sparkling wine) only comes from a small region in France. Why the Belgians took offense to the product in 2023 (the phrase has been used since 1903) only tells me that no research was done on their part before wasting a fine product. Oh well, perhaps whomever ordered it needs another pallet full (and another clearing house, or importer).

I saw that on the news John. I wondered myself, if they were just starting to pay attention or what? The slogan has been around forever. Also, it's not wine, so they're not trying to compete with real champagne. Somebody looking for their 15 minutes of fame???

I presume it is due to being an import, drawing new attention? I will check to see how long we have been exporting to Europe.

Molson/Coors (owner of Miller) does not export to Europe…someone tried to pull a fast one, I believe?
