The friend of mine (Walt) that went fishing with me lives about ten minutes away, his family runs cattle on over 10,000 acres that seems like it's the middle of nowhere. He has a good sized pond that's fed by springs to where it is full all the time. He wants me to come over there and try for Crappie since I have a boatload of Crappie lures. He also has a neighbor that wants him to come over and catch a couple hundred Crappie, he says the pond is loaded with them and wants them thinned down, I'll be curious to see how big those are.

Typically those big ranchers get a bit territorial...on the one where the guy wants a few hundred taken out I'll try to develop a relationship where I pitch the benefits of having a few guys hammering Crappie and Smaller Bass so I can bring another person, but the typical would be that I'd have to be with them, they don't like people just showing up.
I like to get out in the afternoons once or twice a week for Bass (or Crappie) to take home to eat...there's something about being able to go out for an hour or so and bring home a few nice fish to eat. I fry up more than we want for dinner so I can snack on some and have it for lunch the next day.
Yeah that's total understandable on the ranchers part. Specially the way people are these days. No respect for others.
Love to help you out! Lol I'm a crappie master!

Where would you go to catch Crappie right now? Ever fish Berryessa? And on a pond would you go with worms under a bobber or Crappie jigs?
