Nice day with my son yesterday! Caught some real slab Perch and several catfish up to around 3 lbs.
Nice catch...I wonder if white perch are also called crappie?

I don't think so ck, but there are White Crappie, as well as Black Crappie.
Maybe but these are white perch. Different look than a Crappie. And caught on tidal water
At the risk of repeating myself any day fishing with your son is a day well spent
I would guess that the fish is a "wiper", that is a hybrid from mating white bass and striped bass. As you know, striped bass are anadromous, tolerating salt water. The hybrid wipers can tolerate some saltiness such as brackish tidal water.
