We got a slow start, first time on the lake for my friend Walt, went to get the trolling motor going and something wasn't working...so we tooled around the lake showing him up the arm and over by the dams. Looked to see what the main motor would idle at and it held about 2.9 tp 3.2, so we figured what the heck, might as well have a couple of lines in. So we went with a gold Speedy Shiner and a Blue Flicker Shad, both being go to lures for guys in this lake.

We had trolled for awhile not paying much attention when his pole got hit, he was up front so I got the pole to show him how to pull in slowly and reel up the slack in pumps, he thought he had a log but I told him no, it was doing some hard pulling that a log wouldn't do.

So anyway that was the only fish about 2:30. When we were getting the boat out a guy that was staying there for a few weeks was telling us that the hot lures were Speedy Shiners and Flicker Shads, and he went through the ones I had and showed me the ones that he said are smoking hot. the rainbow and blue/chrome Speedy Shiner, and the blue, and dark green top with orange or red belly Flicker Shad.

He said guys were limiting out trolling the arm, and over by the dam and intake buoys, and keeping to the faster end of trolling speeds like 2.8 to about 3.3...and the faster end was pulling good numbers of Browns

I will be out this next week, Lol.

A nice fat Rainbow...they stock fish that are about a pound and a half up, and typically you catch a lot of holdovers and Browns that I don't think are stocked. trolling the lake can produce limits that are two or three pounds each on up, it's a good lake with no swimming or recreational watercraft, just fishermen only.
