Just bought my license. I think I am interested in fishing for the table to start. Little fish to learn with. I think I will be going to Marsh Creek and Chambers Lake.

I really wish I could find a how to book. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the Stage Lynne. Most state fisheries have "How to fish " programs for beginners. Not sure if your state does, but you can look into that. Local tackle shops are a great source of information, especially for nearby bodies of water. If you're internet savvy, YouTube has instructional videos for every phase of fishing. Good Luck and welcome to our wonderful addiction.

Thanks. YouTube and Facebook are addictive. I had a wonderful experience while I was shopping. Since I couldn't find a clerk, I asked some young men for help. They were so polite and calm and helpful. And every one kept saying "Fishing is fun and you are going to have a great time. "

Welcome to the Stage, RMLynne, You have to go to the Mom & Pop Bait Shops in order to get any help beneficial help. Most big box stores do not have a clue of what is going on in the water world. Do you have a target fish or location?

A good choice, but I'm sorry, I can't help you at all, because do not fish for either. Mostly trout and walleye for me but I'm thinking about going after the sunnies and crappies. They are easier to catch, and I don't need any challenges at my age. Good luck!

A simple piece of worm on a hook, 2ft (depending on water depth) below a bobber will usually catch panfish anywhere.

The little bottles of red and yellow fish eggs work well for panfish also, here's a couple of examples and they come in different names.
Walmart may carry them. Welcome to the stage and good luck 🎣

Welcome to the stage RML. Marsh Creek is a great place to start. There’s a little sporting goods store on Rt. 100 N. just passed the the second fork in the road, in the town of Eagle, make sure you stay on 100 North, Gordon’s is the name of if. You are not far from MC from there, about a mile. They should help you get your surroundings together, I know of two spots that are good. One is thru the main entrance. Gets you to the main part of the lake. The other is right on Conestoga Rd. to the left. More structure for the fish. Hot spot for panfish. The lake is paddle boat friendly, kayaks, canoes, small rowboats, best way to fish it . Panfish, good sized bass, I think it’s a big bass water, meaning that it is a 15” minimum. Check the regulations book. Good luck and tight lines.

Jus keep it simple. I suggest A rod you are comfortable with, spin reel, and simple plastic baits. Good luck. Hope you enjoy fishing like us.

First thing welcome to the stage.

Many Pa members n numbers growing.

Hope some of the fellows over your way can give you some help

I'm around 150 miles southwest.

I'd say a can of red worms on a small hook. Hanging under a small bobber.

Good luck RedMomma 👍🎣

You may be able to get into a class at a Penn State extension location. They offer a fishing major or at least used to.
