I generally hit Kiwanis Park as it's down the street, and hit the canals nearby as well. Any tips or tricks to the trade there? Haven't had much luck in ages, and I'm dying for a single bite, haha.
I've tried off the dock, and around the lake, nada.
With the canals, I see them but, they don't want anything to do with my lure/bait, lol.

Anything helps! 🙏🏽✨
I just fished Kiwanis last Friday morning. Caught two bass on curly tailed grubs on 3/16 oz jig heads with the "Beetle Spin" type spinners. I typically start just to the left of the boat rental dock and work my way around to the left not long after sun up. Good luck.

That's awesome, Handyman!! My dream is to catch a bass! 😂 Haha, it's all my dad is trying to have us catch! He really wants me to catch one, in his lifetime, lol. He's only 68, but, you know, daddy wants to see his little princess catch a honker while he's alive! 😂
What other types of bait/lures do you use, or do you stick with the spinners?
The bait really depends on the time of day, season, etc. I've seen fisherman catch bass at Kiwanis on rubber worms fished either as a drop shot or Carolina rigged, also swim baits like paddle tails. Kiwanis is pretty shallow around the shoreline with rock piles everywhere so it is best to use something that won't get hung up easily. I would avoid crank baits unless you want to lose lures or use heavy line.
Another option in Tempe is Tempe Town Lake but it is extremely muddy due to the rains and the water releases from up river. I believe it would be a waste of time currently.
Good luck.
