Hi, Y'all,
I am Randy, a full-time musician from Austin, TX. My nickname is The Fishin' Musician and I am grateful to be accepted here as a new member and user of your forum. I am lucky to have had the opportunity to fish all over the world growing up as an offshore drilling family kid. I love deep sea and inner coastal salt water fishing as well as freshwater fishing of all types. I worked for a king salmon fishing outfitter on the Nushagak River in Alaska, and have logged many hours night fishing for monster bass at Lake Fork, TX. One of my favorite things to do is find private stock tanks and try and obtain permission to fish them. As always, catch and release and leave no trace of my presence. I call fishing "jerkin' lips". Thank you for including me and I look forward to hearing from y'all.

Rock on!

Welcome to the stage Randy, I also enjoy private ponds when permission is granted. I sure wish more people left no trace of their fishing experience 😕 hope you enjoy your time here. Do you play music in Austin?

I do. I have a band called Hourglass and we play all around Central Texas and beyond. We are a '70s acoustic rock cover band and perform often. We play at music venues, breweries and wineries, private parties, and corporate events where ever we can find them. If you look around on social media or the internet, you will find us.

I will definitely look, in high school I helped some friends who had a band that played in local clubs etc, I didn't play I just helped set up, tear down and transport equipment and got into several venues for free lol 😀

Hey randy! Welcome to the Stage! On here, you'll find lots of like-thinkin folks who love sharing stories and pictures of fishies. I started playing guitar at age 11, at the same time I was falling in love with chasin bass. Pickin and fishin are my 2 passions, but since moving back to my home on Table Rock, both my guitar and banjo just sit and wait. I gotta get my pickin fingers back in shape, but for now, my sore thumb is gettin all the attention. Anxious to hear your fishin stories, and the gang on here loves em some pictures.

The Nusgak River is something...huh? I fished it a couple times for King Salmon and caught a few bit spent most of my fishin time on the Kenai river. I lived 5 minutes from the Kenai River for 20 years.
Moved back to Rockwall Lmost 5 years ago. I fished mostly Lake Fork for 15 years prior to that...been trying to figure out fork now that I'm back to fishin her.

I lived in Austin/Cedar Park for 14 years from 2007 to 2020. Fished with two Christian Bass Clubs and a Retiree club. Every year on Lake Buchanan they hold a Rippin' Lips For Red memorial tournament in honor of a teenager who was killed in a 4 wheeler accident. I moved back to Grand Junction, Colorado Jan 1st of 2021 so not sure if they still hold that tournament. Good prizes and all proceeds go to high school scholarships. Check it out. Welcome to the stage. Looking forward to seeing about your adventures. BTW, a friend just posted that he caught his PB largemouth 11.8#. Check out ACBC website (Austin Christain Bass Club) for more details.

Tight Lines,

Randy Shortorder Cook
