One of the most impressive sights I ever saw was in North Texas before the interstates were done. Way to the North as night was falling the city had its lights on. Then a Lightening bolt came down from the clouds above. I started counting the Seconds for the "Boom" to reach us as we were driving past.
The Bolt was on the ground for 7 Seconds!
The bottom ends had split and danced around the city.
When it went back up into the clouds, the city was totally blacked out.
Never seen a Lightening Bolt last that long before or since.

That must have been one he!! of a flash.
I was 18 at the time and still remember it.
Made a bigger impression than watching a star go Nova on top of the signal deck at night in the med in 1966.
