I've always found fishing across the lake best with minnows. Good casting open face rod and reel. About 3-4' deep.
I usually fished about 3' ft deep. Minnows On reformantory side. Fished from park side cast over. Not allow on state reform, property.
Not sure about the depth, but crappies good on live minnows, careful casting as they fly off the hook in the distance across the lake.
I always done a side cast.
If you have a broken back minnow that may work. If not crappie but great for bass.
I always used live minnows. No shads
I always took live minnows.
