Hi! I'm new here! Need some pointers on saltwater fishing in Panama city Florida
Getting up early peak times are usually just before sunrise till a couple hours after sunrise. Live bait (sandfleas, shrimp or small cut bait) keep a light rod short to see what fish are right in front of you. Hardtails, pinfish etc use any of these to make a longer cast out further. Surf fishing exclusively
Thank you fishdrifter, I went out this morning from like 4 am - 6 am . I caught three gofftpsail catfish using squid! Had quite a few more bites but couldn't hook em ☹️

I thought so, see if you can get over closer to the Hathaway Bridge. Your catch will most definitely change up. Redfish, Blues, Trout, Spanish and various Snapper. I've caught Bonita under the old bridge years ago on a Cobia jig (ps that photo on my profile is at West Bay Bridge, Hwy79 PCB
I've fished the Hathaway bridge a long while back before they built the new one...I was a kid though...I've never fished the west Bay bridge and I've been in Panama city almost my entire life...
I ran a business out there for nearly 20 years moved back home to Crestview FL.
The reconstruction around the bridge and college was/is a nightmare. Living on the West End of PCB us Locals NEVER traveled farther than the State Park (I just dropped you a HUGE fishing tip) shhh
Lol thank you for that!....I've almost bagged a few sharks from the state park...line didn't hold while I tried walking em to shore☹️. Constructions much better now, well, in that area. They're messing with a lot of other areas now. Laguna Beach is by far my favorite place to be. Do you have any tips for fishing lake Powell? Fished it many times never caught anything☹️
If you are in PCB, a good place to fish is the piers. Doesn't cost much and you can catch more that catfish. Spanish Mackerel have been biting, so you can get some Got-cha lures to cast off the pier. You will need a steel leader because the Spanish have lots of sharp teeth. Or you can use a Carolina rig to fish off the bottom. Good luck.
Thank you...I appreciate the advise
Only where Lake meets the Gulf follow me? Camp Helen Inlet Beach. Massive amounts of bait and more action especially during lulls. It's a tricky parking situation if you decide not to park inside Camp Helen (tip) the last public walkover has 2 parking spaces which will allow you access closest proximity the "Inlet" possible with no hassle except it's a hike nicknamed 85 steps (#of actual wooden steps) to the beach then proceed LEFT approx 300 yards! yep I have a YouTube video I will attempt to send you a link
My wife caught this top slot limit Red off the beach in front of the Holiday Inn Vacation Club on PCB from the surf in September 2022. Was a clear water day and not much surf. She fished right past the second sand bar on the edge of an outflow. Morning and incoming tide. Used Ladyfish cut bait and sand flea fish bites. There are a ton of great surf fishing how-to videos on YouTube that will help you a bunch. Surf fishing in St Andrew's park is always good too. Just an FYI, there is public access right next to the Vacation Club.
Perfect. There are numerous public beach access points in PCB they are numbered all the way from St Andrews Park to Pinnacle Point on into Inlet Beach area. BUT parking for those public beach walkways is a tricky situation only a seasoned local resident would know.
