Welcome to the stage Pappy. I know how that semi retirement goes. Enjoy it, I am sure you earned it. I am a former Belhaven resident and sure do miss your good fishing down there.
Welcome to the Stage. I am up the road from you. Topsail Island. Try Johnny Mercer pier. The folks are really nice. Talk with them about the area and I am sure they can get you on the right track. Post pics please because we love pics. If you are ever in my area pm me please. Also the Spring mullet run is just kicking off. Shortly after that the spot run will kick off. FRESH SHRIMP is the key.

Welcome to the forum Pappy
Thanks
Shrimp seems to be the bait .
Always good to have something to eat if you don't catch anything

So true. Mullets are biting on surf city and Seaview pier. They should be biting on Johnny Mercer pier.
Good Evening,
My grandson and I fish the Brunswick River near Leland. We fish in a small boat between the River Walk Park and the I-74 bridge. In this small area using mostly swim bait, jigs and live worms, we have caught flounder, stripped bass, large mouth bass, eels, gars, catfish, and red fish. We love it. You just never know what you’re going to catch. We have never been disappointed…except for the time I lost my anchor, and the time I flipped my kayak and lost all my equipment…lol
I know the area, I've fished a little from the pier .
If you don’t have a boat, Troyfrd1 has some great advice about the Johnnie Mercers Pier. Always a lot of fun. Very helpful staff. You can use light tackle if you wish or rent a rod and reel from them. Check out their website. Best of luck!!
Hi Pappy! I fish the Southport area of the ICW and the reefs nearshore. Welcome, from another Leland resident!
Hi neighbors. Not sure about Johnny Mercer Pier but mullet are running on Seaview Pier.
