Loc: Boise Idaho, CJ Strike Reservoir
Hi, heading to Boise in a few weeks (early April) anyone have any ideas what I can fish for there (I do not fly fish), or any bodies of water to fish ? I was thinking of trying C.J. Strike Reservoir or a river.
There is a link. Not sure if your preferred destination is in the list of locations but contact small type fishing gear and supply locations for information. The big stores are not very helpful usually like smaller shops are.
NWFR just aired a show on crappie in CJ. You can see it on the internet if you go to NWFR. North West Fishing Report Membership is free. I have never gotten any crap downloads as a member. I have never found a shortage of crappie in the narrows or near Cottonwood Campground. I have never fished there this early, but the lake is also full of smallmouth and larger than average yellow perch. It also has its fair share of 2 pound plus rainbows as well as large channel cats in the river below the damn. My best large crappie fishing, short of Minnesota was in CJ the last week in April. At this point, it is my favorite lake west of the rockies.
CJ is good. Boise river may have a lot of spring run off.
