3/19/23 I went to Hillsboro to see if the white perch were there. There is a few there but not enough to fish in the cold wind coming right down the creek. So I went to the bluegill/crappie spot and caught 10 bluegills and 10 nice size crappie. Got too cold and and headed home. All caught with a 2.5" Gulp Minnow on a 3/16th jig head about 4' under a bobber. Too damn cold!!

I was out Saturday in that cold wind too. Had a minnow on a ned jig but my bobber was more like 10inches. Then tried a red blood worm but no bites for me or the guy a bit down the bank. After a couple hours fingers were freezing and sun started to go down. I'll try 4in on the bobber next time up there. Glad you caught some!!

Kandy this time of year you might have to go deeper under the Bobber. Nice warmer days the fish may move up in shallow water then you can fish shallower 👍

Whitey, in Md. The crappie and bluegills like to feed up more then close to the bottom. Even in winter. And it depends how deep the water is where you fish for them. I am fishing in about 6' of water and the crappie and gills hit best about 4' under the bobber. I do fish on and near the bottom for bass. But that's just me. There are so many different ways to catch them.
