My husband and I are both fairly new to MS and saltwater fishing. We have been fishing Pascagoula, Moss Point with little to no luck. We try to talk with locals to lea the trucks if the trade. We’re from New York so this is a challenge for us. The timing of the tide and what to use for bait is what we need advice about. We’re learning, slowly but surely through trial and error. We kayak but have yet to venture out to the rivers to try our luck. If you see us, please say hello and we thank you in advance for any tips!

Welcome aboard Drea. Fishing on the bottom I use a grub head and slide a dead shrimp on it. That's all the weight you need. Fish around docks pylons one oyster beds. With live shrimp or mud minnows I fish then under a popping cork in the same locations. Good luck and welcome to the warmer weather.
One word of advice, if you do find a local who WILL talk to you, DONT ever say that's not how we do it back home.😄😄😄
The Pascagoula pier or the beach is a good place to start. Get some live shrimp or bull minnows. Fish with a Carolina rig. Also in Ocean Springs the harbor pier or the one under the hwy 90 bridge. Also the drive on at the palace in Biloxi. The walkway behind the blind tiger in Biloxi. If you or your husband can throw a cast net it's easy to catch all your bait. Of course you can use cut bait as well. Mullet are great to fish with. On face book there's several local pages where ppl keep others informed on where they are catching them and on what. The reds and flounder just started moving back in the bays. There may still be some reds in the bayous.
On FB go to fishing the Mississippi gulf coast site. A lot of good ppl there that know all the good places. There's also a kayaker on FB Mississippi Salt.
This is great info, I appreciate it!
Hope this helped some meant to tell you if you want to talk to someone about artificial go by Nelson's on Market in Pascagoula.
