Hey all, after throwing some cheap inline spinners for a while my line is incredibly twisted (I'm using 8lb power pro braid) and I'm looking for a way to fix it. Everyone says the best way is to let your line out behind your boat while you're moving then reel it in with pressure on the line and it'll get the twist out. Unfortunately I don't have a boat to do this so I'm looking for other options! One idea I had was to, instead of moving with a boat, toss my line into a moving creek or river and let the water carry my line out then reel it back in while keeping my fingers pinched on the line above the reel so it goes back on straight. Anyone tried this before and had any luck? The other option I've heard about is to tie a barrel swivel to the end of your line and connect it to something like a fence, walk backwards to let your line out, then slowly reel in as you make your way back towards the fence and the swivel will spin so your line goes back on straight. Problem is, I'm super cheap and don't have barrel swivels and I'm not sure if I want to go out and buy a pack just for this reason hahah
I'd appreciate any tips!

Maybe you could let it hang from a bridge or balcony and untwist then feel it back in?

Yea just use a barrel swivel then attach a leader to it tie your spinner to the leader. It’s not a perfect solution but it will work and save you some time getting that twist out

Only time I’ve ever had an issue with line twist is when I kept line on my reel for way too long and at that point it’s time to remove all the old line and put fresh line on.

Barrel swivels are pretty useful my friend

You can just walk it out on a well mowed lawn and crank it back on. It's more annoying then doing it in water as you have to watch closely to make sure debris does not get wound into the line.

A damp wash cloth will help take out the twist and keep out debris.

Hey all, after throwing some cheap inline spinners... (

If nothing else is possible put s swivel on it and fly a kite.
When you decide to bite the bullet and get some swivels don't go cheap spend a little extra and get the bearing swivels they spin more freely, are much stronger, and you will never again suffer from line twist. It will be the best money you ever spend fishing.
I would think if you don't use swivels with your spinners you will always have line twist
Pickle is giving you some of the best advice you will ever get about line twist.
Swivels are CHEAP. You could go to a school and let out the line on a football field then reel back in. I don't think having the BRAIDED line on a reel for a long time will twist your line. Another thing to stop the line twist is to NOT keep reeling in line when you are not gaining any line. You are now merely twisting your line with every revolution of the bail.

Buying a "barrel swivel" packet is cheaper than re-spooling a twisted line, I think.
Just get some braid fishing line. It twists after awhile but on the whole it works a lot better than mom line .The ricky sitka
Not an easy fix and since your not going to spend much to fix oh well here goes; strip all the Braid off buy some Stren or Trilene Mono in whatever test your reel is rated for and spool it from the bottom of the new spool it is loaded.
