My Grandpa, a Master Carpenter came from Denmark thru Ellis Island in 1889. I remember him from the 1940's and going to the old farm for Christmas. He used to give all of us Grand kids a Morgan Silver Dollar.

My Grandparents were all born in the 1800s also. I remember all 4 of them well.

My Mom's dad was a Horse and buggy mail carrier before 1900 and when Ford Model T came out used one to deliver. I never met him. My Dad's Dad who came from Denmark returned to Denmark to visit then returned to the US. One of the times returning to Denmark, his ship sunk, but he survived. The First time he came to the US may not have been via Ellis Island because I think it had not been built yet, but definitely the second time. The last time he went back to visit Denmark in 1901 he married my Grandmother and brought her to the US via Ellis Island and Settled in Hollywood, WA. During WW1, he worked in the Ship Yards in Seattle and Tacoma.
