I am a below knee amputee and Im looking for places to go throw a lure or just kick back and fish with a pole and a brew. I get around pretty good good with the prosthetic, but not going to walk to far. Any locations for me? Im in Joplin Mo.area.

Hey BA. I moved from the Joplin area a few years ago, but spent many hours fishing the area. I'm sure you've found there aren't many places to bank fish. I have a couple of ideas, plus am waiting for info on a 3rd. Kellogg Lake over in Carthage not only has lots of bank access, but runs right next to Spring River. Both are good places to fish. Also, if you don't mind driving a bit, there's a little known lake north of you where I had a blast fishing, John Gardner Lake. The link below will give you directions. I hope this helps and welcome to the Stage. 🎣

Good morning!
I did hear back from a fellow who bought a very established private lake over by Carl Junction. Not visible from the road, it offers lots of bank fishing, and I've caught lots of fish out of there. Membership is a bit steep, but they keep it more expensive to weed out messy partyers and non-respectful folks. PM me if you'd like a contact number for the lake.

The drive over would be a jag but you are allowed to fish the Dry Creek run of the Norfork hatchery at Salesville, Arkansas. It’s a beautiful place with two excellent ramps next to the stream. I took my children when they were the age allowed. Mostly rainbows with a couple in double digits.
