For those of us that fish at the reservoir, it would help all of us for comments on what you caught, where you caught them, what bait or lure you used, and when you fished there. Any tips for catching would be appreciated.

Has anyone been fishing San Pablo reservoir? Just curious. Thinking about bringing my boat there, but haven't heard of anyone catching or if the water cleared enough.

We went fishing a few weeks ago at San Pablo Reservoir, beautiful place. The water was muddy and lots of trees down due to the wind and rain. We rented one of the boats but fished mostly from the shores. There were lots of fish (I have a fish finder) but didn't catch anything. I think with all the water draining down the hillsides it has provided enough bugs for the fish.

Fished there several weeks ago. Water was extremely muddy, zero visibility. We tried everything. Slow trolling, drifting nite crawlers, different colors of powerboat, mouse tails and blind casting toward the shoreline. Not a single hit. But as we were drifting bait a large fish broke water less then twenty feet from the boat, my buddy grabbed his second rod and threw a Kastmaster into the boil and nailed this nice 4 pound rainbow. I guess we got lucky, only fish of the day. However we did see a lot of small dead minnows floating in the water probably due to the low oxygen level because of the high amount of muddy water entering the lake.I would definitely wait for better water clarity before fishing the lake again. When we got back to the ramp we talked to several other boaters who had launched at the same time as us. None caught a single fish. Hope this info helps.

We'll, I decided to go for it and went today, I got there and boat ramp flooded under water, so I couldn't launch. Decided to fish from the little bit of shore line left. Fished 3 hours , no bites. Should have gone to Bon Tempe.

Fished Bon Tempe today. Fished at a spot know by the locals as hamburger flat. Don’t ask me why they call it that. We ended up with four nice size planters and a beautiful 3+ pound hold over rainbow. All fish were released. The group next to us also caught some nice fish. Water is high and the sun was shining. Great day!

Glad to hear you had a beautiful day, 3 lbers were actually planted on Feb 25th. Or around there. They said 1/2 lbers but they were big boys. Hamburger cove, not sure either why. Been fishing there since 1972. The fishing in the old days was much better. Not overfished like today. But it seems to be getting a little better. But only stocking it once a month.used to stock it 2000 lbs 1 lb fish every two weeks. Then in 2008 I think the red legged frog came into play. All stocking stopped. Then they started stocking it again but only 1)2 lb fish once a month and only 1 thousand lbs. This year I d see 2000 lbs of 1/2 lbers. Anyways would love to connect with you out there sometime.im thinking of going Tuesday as long as it isn't windy

Hey buddy we also started fishing the lake in the early 70dies. Always caught our limits back then. pautezes green label salmon eggs was the bait of choice. So many different bait options now days. Just bought a jar of the pautezes. Gonna try them next time. If weather is permitting we are planning to head back up early next week. I’ll send u a PM message and maybe we can hook up. Do u you know the website that tells about the planting schedule. Talked to a local that fishies there regularly yesterday and he said that he talked to the ranger and was told that the last plant was in December and all future plants have been put on hold do to the high water level. Road is too muddled to get the stocking truck in. Not sure if that is accurate.
