Well dang. McFarland didn't produce a nibble. No joy no joy. Headed to the Rockpile just below Wilson dam. So many birds I thot was snowing!! Right on! After an hr n a half of throwing Everything Shiney or white, I finally landed this brute! Over 3 shoes long and very upset, got the jig outta its beak, took a pic and back it it went. Another half hr of zilch prompted me to pack it in. Turns out the birds were eating half inch long bug's not the shad. But the bugs bring the bait and the bait bring the predators.
Now that's very cool! You don't hear about gar pike being caught via hook and line very often...at least not in my region of Michigan...
Glad that you had success...even if was not what you expected!
That gar still qualifies as not getting skunked!
You’ll get them next time!
