I have no idea but I know it was before I was 5. Maybe as young as 3YO. We still lived in Azle, TX. and it was before I went to school.

1957. I was five.
It was on one of the NY finger lakes.
My dad was a WWII Navy vet and he demonstrated this strange means of row boat propulsion. He took one of the oars out and moved it back and forth out the boat stern. Don't remember what we were trolling; but we had a small perch hooked when we got back to shore.
