Hi All,
New member here and am looking to get my first hookset into a some walleye down here on Lake of the Ozark's Niangua and Little Niangua branches...
I've fished a lot of the toothy critters in Wisc, Minn, and Canada and have done well jigging and drop-shotting leeches as well as trolling, but LOZ is a bit different type of lake.
Seen a lot of buddies catching them by accident while fishing for bass but I want to be a bit more target specific.
The locals going after walleye are a bit elusive on where and what tactics they been successful with.
I've seen some slow trolling early morning across secondary points with what I would think are crawler harnesses and trolling along the Niangua cliff faces. Never saw them with any hookups though.
Figure I'll be hitting the water again in mid-April and would appreciate any pointers along the way... Thanks!
Welcome to the Ozarks.
I fish walleye south of LOZ in Bull Shoals.
Those techniques used elsewhere will work just fine.
Now to locate the Walleye.
Let me know how it goes.

I don't fish for walleye in LOZ but occasionally catch one now and then. I heard they stock them on a limited basis in the Truman Reservoir and that's where the ones in LOZ come from. You might have better action of Truman..
Been catching more walleye each year. This time of year I use a silver and light blue crankbait,a deep runner so it bounces off the rocks. Do this in deep water but I throw it to the shore. When you catch one there probably be more. I even gone back several times thru spring and early summer and caught more. Good foshing

Thanks fishingatthelake5! I've been wondering what's been working for others...trolling deep divers, casting off to shore, or dragging crawlers off a bottom bouncer. This really helps! Thanks again!
