Went in the basin, just one of many bayous we have. Caught maybe 25 lm bass, missed hits ranked way up there. Not one of those bass went one pound. Color didn't matter, just where you threw it. Spinners, chatterbait, and crank baits, all worked, didn't matter the speed of retrieve. I did manage to hook a few bluegills. One actually had the hook in the top lip, wasn't even as long as my little finger. Still better than staying home and doing work around the house.

Sounds like fun and may bode well for the LM bass population in the basin. How’s the water level and cleanliness?

Sounds like a fun day Pat. At this time of the year all action is good action.

" Just where you threw it "

Sparked a memory there Pat. Funny how that is, can be 3 feet off and nothing. Cast to the same spot and bam after bam. Right place right time.

Good going on the 25.

It sounds like you may be fishing a recently stocked area.

Water clear, down to about a foot and a half. Standing at 14 1/2' Lots of activity on the fish finder screen, seen a lot of gators on the bottom in about 7-10' of water. Water was 60 degrees and started warming up as the day went on.

Most don't ever bother anyone, but will when they chase your topwater bait to the boat. Had to hit a few in the head, just to knock some sense into them, much like you have to do with some kids today. As I was driving back to the dock, only one was spotted, another boat pulled up at the launch and said they had three come to the boat. I have seen many gators in different places, and the most I've seen is about 40 in one day. None were over 5' most were under 4'. I took a picture of 3 in the same blowdown, there were two more but dropped off into the water.

I can picture that in my mind and that is about as close i want to get. Putting a fish back in the water must be done rather quickly.

I had one stalk me on a golf course pond behind my daughter's FILs house in NC. He took off pretty quick when I growled at him, but he was only a 4 footer.
