Hey, I was told but haven't seen any yet about Halibut in the Bay or starting into the Napa or Petaluma River. Does anyone heard of or seen Halibut caught yet?

Got fish Loc: Petaluma

I’ve heard of a few fish caught in the South Bay. We usually start April looking for fish. It seems the North Bay starts a little later than the South. At least that’s what I’ve found the last few years.

Shelfish Loc: Sonoma, CA

I went out last Friday, spent about 3 hours trolling for Halibut in the Berkley area. Did not see any bait and did not get any bites. It is too early in the season. South bay should be better. We reeled them up and went to the Pump House area and bait fished for Sturgeon/Stripers. We ended up with one keeper Striper and one under size. We did see other Stripers being caught and a slot size Sturgeon.

We’ve had a lot of rain so I’m guessing with all the fresh water the season might start later this year. We went out a few weeks ago for limits of stripers and one undersized sturgeon. That fishing should be excellent right now. I need to quit working so much and fish more!

My brother went a couple of weeks ago up on the Mendocino coast. Water was high and no fish. I think they are going this weekend. If I hear a report I’ll pass it along.
