Water's still too cold for prespawn, which should commence later this month, but had the itch to get out. Caught this guy in the impoundment behind the house a couple days ago with a spinnerbait, no trailer, but had a stinger hook. A dink, but I'll take it.

Good job. Remember, a dink is a trophy in the making, that or dinner.

Thanks guys. Like many of you, I'll be hitting the local waters hard for sure once they start schooling! But unlike most guys I know, I give the bedding bass a break. Super tempting though when you see the big mammas up shallow.

I used to fish Burke lake back in the early 70's for crappie. Used silverside minnows, basically 2 eyes and a wiggle in size. But over the brush piles we caught quite a few nice bass too. Always a blast on ultralight tackle!
Back then there were no fish finders, so once you located the fish you just lined up shore points to find it again. Never failed. I remember seeing some 5 lb largemouth coming out of there.
