Well, I am looking forward to the upcoming fishing season. Boat ready, gear ready, and I am ready. So yesterday, we had a break in the weather, and I decided to go for a drive and check out DVL water level before towing the boat out there for my first trip of the year. A few pics will tell the story for me. Not good, water continues to go down. No worries, Lake Skinner has always held their water level well, and it is closer to home. Might as well go check it out on the way home. Get to the launch ramp, and it is a total disaster. Now, this lake is the lowest I have ever seen it. Looks like you can barely launch a boat at all. If it goes down any more the total lake will be shut down. The whole north end of the lake is now land. Talked to my ranger friend out there, and she said they were doing some dredging in some channel. Asked her when the water would come back up, and she had no idea. Really a sad day, and I really envy all of you folks across the nation who are already catching fish.

That sucks Garey. What the heck did they do with all the precipitation you guys had out there? I saw floods on the news, and overflowing rivers that should feed the lakes, no?

No answers, thought the same thing. Was excited to go out and expected lakes to be much better. They just got worse. Totally frustrating, and have no clue and pissed!

Wow I can’t believe with all the rain we have had and are getting as i type ,that the levels haven’t came up down there, most all the lakes up hear are full or getting close to being full. The only thing Putting my fishing on hold is the rain and the cold conditions! This time last yeAr I landed and released 24 fish by Fed. 26th, this year so far I have landed and released 6 fish. I’m really surprised that the lakes down south are still as low as they are! I really hope they fill up with the rain we are having now! Hang in there O.B.G! Good luck and be safe!

Hopefully they don't squander the upcoming melt of all the snow up in the mountains. You guys haven't had this many opportunities to refill your lakes in years. It's too bad stupid people are in charge.

YIKES! I thought as others have said above...that all the precipitation was filling things back up! Hopefully there is a silver lining hidden somewhere in the current dark cloud of low water issues.

Well out at DVL, one of the workers told me they were going to start bringing water in at the end of the month. Have heard that for 3 years now. At Skinner, was told they were doing some dredging, for what reason have no idea. This is the most rain in Jan/Feb we have had in quite a few years.

These mountains are just a few miles from DVL, and only get snow about every 10 years.

Kind of makes one wonder don't it 🤔. With the water levels being that low for several years you would have thought they would have had everything taking care of by now 😳

There you go with that danged common sense again Whitey. How many times do I have to remind you that it doesn't work any more.

Welcome to the politics of California water management ( hope that word doesn’t send me to the attic). How in the world can any reservoir in the state be that low with highest rain and snow levels that the entire state has had in the last 15 years! Every lake and reservoir in Northern California
Is filled to the brim. It is nothing more than water manipulation! Justifies their argument to build more canals to send more water south. Just my opinion!
