This fish looks healthy, except for the tail segment…
Just fat. IMO Had a small mouth bass that looked like a Pumpkin Seed. It's tail was only about 2 inches defined.
Looks like a birth defect to me.
That’s pretty wild looking OJ, once many years ago caught a Muskie with a hunch back. Cristened it quasy moto and released it.
Maybe it's one of those midget breeds.
Looks like broke back disease
Fat northern with a birth defect. Don’t eat it.
Maybe got bit when younger an the tail healed up just looks funny 😁
Definitely something odd happened along the way. I would probably let it go and not take a risk of consumption...
Used to catch trout that reminded me of midgets.
Big dog
Loc: Bayshore, Long Island, New York
Two fish I’ve caught were rather freakish. One, a good sized LMB that must have met a heron in its youth, with a scar that kinda shrunk the body compared to the head and the tail. The other a brown trout that must’ve had a close encounter with an Osprey, with scars from talons, bending the shape of it in a very weird shape. Both were survivors of a hard youth, so I released them with a good luck prayer 🙏

Weird looking but why not eat it?

That's what I would say also.
