Welcome to the Stage, Randy, Where in MN. are you from? Orange Beach is a good place to be in mid-March. The only problem you will experience is that there are way many pretty girls around during Spring Break, and you will find that it will be hard to focus on fishing if you are surf fishing. I would recommend that you fish under the bridge leading from OB to Pensacola and East along the shoreline. It's a nice fishing area and it will kick out a nice Sheepshead once in a while, or, maybe a red or two. There won't be any pretty girls to distract you. so that you can focus. Good luck!!🎣😊🎣😊

Thanks. I live in Elk River Mn our home is on the Mississippi. Im an old retired Marine and a retired (2nd career) Sr Exec of a major Non Prof.

We'r headed to OB AL mid Mar.

I fished a few years in NC (Cherry Point). I ran a lot on the Nuese River. And also went out of Cape Hatterss a lot. Flounder, Blues, kings, Spanish, Sea Trout, sharks.

But that was a ling time ago 1984-86. In Minnesota I chase big Blue gills, Crappie, catfish, small mouth, large mouth, walleyes, Pike and Musky.

Back then in NC, there were very few length slots, closed seasons, etc. so Im concerned as to what I can keep, limits, slots, etc. i want to take home as much fish as i can.

For the Orange Beach area of AL

Is there a place to find the open fish season and slots?

Can I clean my surf catches rt on the beach?

Are the daily limits the possession limit as well?

Do I have to leave a patch of skin on my fillets for Id. In transport?

Is there a place I can take my fillets at the end of each day that will freeze them and keep them till I fly home?

I am guessing that a fish market or some bait & tackle shops may freeze and pack my catch for air transport back to MN.

Is there a limit on Blues? Crokers, Whiting, Blue Crabs?

The go to is Outdoor Alabama for all of your answers.

INSIDE INFO: If you go to the Flora-Bama with your wife or significant other watch out for the pervs. There are couples down there that will drug you and take advantage. It happened to my wife and Bro in law GF. Luckily my Bro in law caught them in the act trying to lure them away. Fishing is good under the bridge and on the pier.

There are also piers in Oakaloosa Island, Pensacola Beach, Navarre and Destin. The couple that drugged my wife ant the other gal introduced therselves as coming from Florida. The drinks the pervs brought them were bushwhackers. They thought they were just being nice. After they realized what was going on Bro in law already had them half way home and they were both out of it loopy. I called the Orange beach Police and they said unfortunatly it happens way to often, but without witnesses and a description no way to investigate.
