Your rod is very collectable. I'm thinking the rod was made by a company called Crest. They were produced in the 1950's. I don't have time right now to double check the maker of the rod. A lot of them were sold by Sears with the JC Higgins badge on them. That rod was a great find and worth much more than $5.00.

Collectable! Auction it off on ebay and buy yourself a rod and reel you'll enjoy using. ( my opinion) πŸŽ£πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Momoney:

That is a 1960's pistol grip rod, that one could be a J.C. Higgins, you can still find them in older antique shops not that rare. When we were kids that was the go to rod with the Zebco. You can find them more around Lake Okeechobee and in Louisiana and Alabama they were very popular there. How many do you want?

I read a long time ago that ZEBCO is an acronym for the company that made them. Seems a company was going out of business after WW2 and someone brought them an idea for a fishing reel based on the spool of twine used to tie up packages. They tried it and it was a success. So Zero Hour Bomb Company was shortened to Zebco.
