Iβm in Demopolis,Al, was asking about when and where are the best spots and time to get those crappies. I moved away just shortly after H.S. Was always going crappie fishing with dad and remember how much fun it was! I have moved back and want to get those crappies. Probably will be fishing from my kayak. Any suggestions?

Where is a location I can get minnows
Wow Bama, you sure have lots of wet to hunt in your area! The river is know for producing the USFG striper a few yrs ago. Idk where but still....
Enjoy your time hunting, posts some narrative on the outing, pics are always welcome ( landscape & victories) you can even show battered fillets!
Several stagers in Bama that can help you in your quest but patience is key in getting responses. Tight lines
Check out Richard Gene "the fishing machine" on Youtube. He gives a wealth of information and fishes the TN River, Guntersville Lake, and other places in Huntsville, AL.
Welcome to the forum.
I am new to the crappie scene myself. Wife and I came over and stayed a couple of days at a campground right on the river late last summer. We were just catfishing on noodles and bass fishing. The Warrior and Tombigbee take on an erie karma when the sun goes down, especially when you hear the hum of the diesels on a big barge coming behind you or meeting one.
Ditto to the guy that recommended "Richard Gene the Fishing Machine". Though he fishes primarily in N Alabama, his advice and techniques would work anywhere...anywhere you find them..lol
We fish Lay and Mitchell over here and are trying to find the elusive crappie but just getting started so no luck yet.
If there is a local tackle shop there, as others have said, start there. I am sure they can point you in a general direction. A lot of the jigs "Gene" uses come from Walmart except for the Z-Man plastics. Z-Man are great baits as they last longer because of the material but others are comparable but at a lower price point.
Keep us updated, looking forward to hearing about your great successes.
Remember, they call it fishing not catching for a reason!

The RoadRunner underspin lure is a great fish locating lure as well. The one thing you have to be careful with using that jig head is that you must use thin enough plastic baits that the bait doesn't interfere with the blade spinning. I fished Alamo Lake last year with a friend. We were using identical Roadrunner underspins with white curly tailed grub bodies and I was catching fish while my friend was not. He had selected a thick bodied curly tail grub out of my plastics bin and it was interfering with the spinner. A swap to a thin bodied grub and he was in business. Once we located fish we could switch to vertical jigging until the action died down.
