Today I took a short break from my work and went in the back yard and threw out a 'whopper plopper' top water. In a few minutes I had a 2 lb'er. The odd thing is I tried to make him jump, just to keep me from having to unhook him. I held the rod tip up high, and he still didn't jump. (must have known it was not a tournament) In fact he dove down to the bottom, maybe 7'. What gives?

I don't know Harris. They never do what I want them to, especially Smallmouth, but they keep you on your toes.

Maybe he was scared of you or else he was a lazy fish who didn’t want to perform for you πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ€£

She could have had a headache, or he could have been hung over.

I think,,,,,,,,?????? I read someplace where either the male or the female fish jump more. I can't remember which. Sorry. You might look it up. Let us know, Harris.

I have caught a lot of Bass that did not jump. Some never broke water until near landing. Nothing carved in stone.

I had one 2 days ago that didn't jump but ran straight into the trolling motor and cut himself loose.
