I have a minn Kota Terrova trolling motor and it has the stop lock feature with this top lock jump. When you attach the gps (hockey puck see photo) it is supposed to blink every so many seconds. When I attach mine it blinks on and stops does not blink again. You unhook from power and then reattach it blinks one time and does not blink again.
Any ideas what my problem is?

I have the same exact one and I don’t think it blinks other than when it’s first turned on. The blinking is just until it sinks with the motor and the GPS satellite I believe.

I’ll get out my instruction book and take a look to confirm.

Continuous blinking is for ladies with LONG eyelashes to get out of speeding tickets. Not the goofy ones I see today but just normal long ones.

I have one too. It’s not supposed to blink.

OK, you had me really confused. I think you meant spot lock (not stop lock). I have this and mine does not blink.
continuously and spot lock works just fine.

Just so you know the puck is not a GPS unit. The GPS is in the trolling motor head. The puck is a heading sensor that is used to increase the accuracy of spot lock. When you are spot locking the boat is not moving much and the gps cannot really know your heading. The heading sensor overcomes this. Before the heading sensor, spot lock had a fairly bad rep.

A note about install. The sensor has a magnetic compass - installing to close to an electromagnetic source will cause spot lock to. lose accuracy.

You also need to calibrate the heading sensor. Here is a video of how to do this: https://youtu.be/oZ9j6rrIoLw

Can you tell me what top lock jump is? I am still somewhat confused.

I contacted min Kota and they said the puck had gone bad. Needed to replace if I wanted stop lock jump to work

I am still interested in stop lock jump - what is that?

I would make sure the unit is calibrated...if not it will have problems. Also, as I said earlier, if installed near electromagnetic radiation, you will have problems. An outboard motor, for example, produces a lot of electromagnetic radiation. Mine doesn't blink (as I have said before) and it works perfectly. I know a lot of people who have trolling motors with this feature and not one has had a sensor failure.

My Terrova has a feature that is spot lock jump. When you are using spot lock you can hit the right turn button and it will move the boat about 5 feet to the right. Same with the left turn will move it to the left. The speed up button moves it forward and the speed down button moves it backwards and the the trolling motor locks at that position.
I don’t know if your manual will tell you what you have or you need to contact minn Kota support. All of the trolling motors I have seen with the heading sensor had the spot lock jump.

OK, you are talking about the 'jog' feature. I had never heard of the term spot lock jump. The term used by Minn Kota is jog in their manuals. This is why I was confused. I am still skeptical of of an issue with the heading sensor. It is a simple magnetic compass with a blue tooth connection. Blue tooth either works or it doesn't. If blue tooth is not working, you won't be able to see the sensor on your remote on the calibration screen. If this is the case you probably have a sensor issue. Not much else to go wrong unless you have interference. I keep pressing you on the location of the sensor and calibration. Have you checked these things?

Just because Minn Kota says it is a sensor issue does not mean that is a fact. Minn Kota support for myself and my friends has always been very poor with a lot of misinformation. I would still try to check to see if blue tooth is working and the unit is calibrated unless you have already done this. The new unit costs around $132 which, at least to me, is a bit of money. I am just hoping to save you some money. If you do replace the sensor and it fixes the problem I would like to know that.
