This is nothing new but something I tried and seem to really like when I cast a couple poles and prop them on a couple sticks for trout. I like light line mostly because it cast great and the trout will hit it better. But it’s really hard to see and I like to watch my line. I recently spooled my reels with hi viz yellow braid. It’s 10 lb test and only 2 lb dia. I put about 8 feet of 6 lb mono leader with a uni to uni knot. And with the braid main line It makes it a ton easier to see. And with the leader the trout can’t see it. And with the uni knot it will pass through your guides. You can still run bite indicators but I haven’t been using them now that I can see my line.

Good idea. I've seen many times (especially on windy days) that my line is a better indicator of a bite than just watching the rod. I have a couple reels spooled with hi vis yellow just for that reason. Thanks for sharing

That’s a great setup for carp fishing.

Great set-up Mike, I also like to use a slip sinker so they’re able to run out some line without feeling resistance.

Definitely I'm a line watcher cause most of the time I can see a bite before I feel it

I like the high viz yellow as well. Mike do you find you catch trout better fishing on the bottom or under a bobber 🤔.

It’s got a lot to do with water conditions and wind. If the wind is blowing I mostly fish the bottom. If I see a actives on top or if the water is dingy I use a bobber. A lot of times I use two rods one on top and one on the bottom and see witch one gets the bite’s.

That makes since lol. I've never fished for trout but have caught a few small one's.

Just a suggestion, I tried suffix 832 in neon green. It has maintained it color after two years and is even easier to see than high vis yellow in both sun light and shadow overcast. I am now sold on it.

I do the same thing Mike, only difference is my leader is shorter than yours. That Hi-Viz yellow line makes seeing your line so much easier.
