I fish there every year, and eat a lot of our catches. Never seen any signs or had anyone down there ever say there was. I’ve talked to State guys and bait shop owner - apparently no mercury problems. A majority of the pits are now on State-owned property.

I was asking because I was also wondering why or how were they formed? Mining is when many things get dicey with pollution.

Hello James. Welcome to this forum. If you've just moved to Tulsa you're close to a lot of good fishing. There are members from Tulsa & close communities. Good crappie are being caught at Ft Gibson lake & the catfish are hitting on shad there.
Good luck & tight lines.
