We hunted about 3 hrs an ran 2 rabbits. Dogs was having trouble with there scent so we just let them run. We didn't shot either one. Better weather should make for better running hopefully 🤗

As a kid hunted cotton-tails with a 22 rifle, no dogs.
As a kid my older brothers would have me stomp on brush piles to jump the rabbits. In hindsight I guess I was the dog ,but I would not change how I grew up in West Virginia for any amount of money

My first memory, @6yrs old, Summer Camp out Phillie [of all places] Had overnight in a teepee and in morning the counselor had bow and arrow practice. A rabbit came out and she got it with bow and arrow. I was not allowed to see the kill so, that was the end of it for me. Obviously, I never forgot!

Me too Ranger.
Actually helped to put food on our table. Loved every min of it too.
Never really realized how poor we were until my sister and I were talkin bout it several years ago now.
We both realized that our folks never had a lot of money and we were fairly poor. Neither she or I seemed to lack for what we needed though, but there was no extras. Lots of love and we just never really knew the facts.
We had a warm bed with a roof over our heads and always had food on the table and clothes on our backs. Never mind that it was food/animals we raised or hunted and clothes that my Mom had made sometimes. Don't ever remember goin to the grocery store very much.
Course, that was before my Dad died and we moved from our place in central Texas up to the Lubbock area, in town, to be around my Moms folks. I was 11. First town I ever lived in. Didn't like it at all.

It was the same for us in West Virginia, dad would make us cut brush and stack it to keep us busy in the summer and to give the rabbits cover. Made for great hunting
Did your brush piles ever have worn out tires in them it made them burn better.lol
