The Umpqua river is loaded with small mouth bass, been out with guide Jody Smith from Elkton, caught over 50 fish, all catch and release. You are in a wonderful area for fishing! Also stripers in the lower river near the mouth. Dont know about strippers tho! Tight lines, good luck.

Live 5 miles west of Drain, also retired and always ready to do some fishing. Have a 19 foot Starcraft boat.

Hope the back surgery went well and you are on the road to recovery. Springers should be starting to run. But the river is pretty blown out from all the rain. I fish for rainbows and Kokanees in the lakes and anything I can catch in the rivers. Just went striper fishing for the first time so learning how to fish them. Also like fishing for Sturgeon but unfortunately cannot keep them, only catch and release.
