I went to Minaki for a week last August and fished exclusively for Musky and we did good. I was told the Smallies on the river are big and plentiful. I caught one and it was a big 4 lb. Also heard Dogtooth lake is a good lake for eyes and smallies . We were thinking of going to Minaki this year and maybe go to Dogtooth for a couple days since it is so close to where we are staying. Anyone familiar with these 2 areas. We also did good with the northern on the river in Minaki. I.m more of a bass guy than musky

Hello Tom. I may be sitting here in NE Oklahoma but I have fished Dogtooth lake many times. I'm hoping to go there again this year but my chances are slim. My fishing buddy's cancer is winning. We stay at Dogtooth resort & usually go the 1st week of September. There are no Musky in Dogtooth. It's not a monster size lake but there's plenty of fish. We fish for smalley's all day then late in the evening switch over & catch walleye for our supper. The lake has some huge lake trout.
We've hooked some that we could never land. Our favorite lures are topwater & anything green Frog colored. Just like most Canadian lakes use caution & stay out of the rocks. The town of Kenora is fairly close if you need supplies. Just grab your gear & go, plenty of fish. Good luckh
