Thanks, RJS, I always have a rod to work on.

Hey Fly have you ever heard of Mud Hole Company. I just got their 2023 catalog and it looks great for people who enjoy building rods. I started last year and still haven’t glued anything or put the eyes on.

Do they work well, I'm thinking about getting a set.

They work EXTREMELY well fly. Used them out on the ice December 28 ( which is now pretty much gone) and was really impressed. The carbide cleats allow for non slip walking.

Well, I went out this morning to take my daily walk, took a few steps into my driveway, and fell on my can. I gathered my wits and said this isn't going to happen. I went back into the house, turned on the TV, and everything is canceled for today and tonight. Even bingo! Same for tomorrow. Oh well, life goes on. Have a good evening.

Oh, just saw this Fly. Hopefully nothing serious a couple Millers and Ibuprofen can't take care of. Best wishes!

Thank you for responding, Brad. Are they easy to walk in, like my walks are about 2 miles long?

I built my first rod around 1959. I sold it on the trout stream bank while I was fishing. I was catching trout and he wasn't, and he thought it was my rod that was the difference. That was partly true, but the technique was the big difference. I showed him both the technique and the rod. He gave me a $125.00 for the rod and spinning reel, a Mitchell 300, and he walked away as a very happy man. $125.00 was a lot of money in 1959 to a 15 y/o snot-nosed kid. That rod, I built from a Herter's blank, then Herter's kind of took a crap and I ordered some from Dale Clemens., and then Cabela's, and now all of my blanks and components come from Mudhole. I found them about 1970, and I'm very pleased with them. I only use the MHX blanks and the best components. If you are just starting out use the CRB blanks and components. They're good and reasonable.

If I can help you in any way, Troy, let me know.

Glad you were able to get up!
When we lived in Colorado we had a concrete driveway that had a 6% slope. I slid down it many times going down to get the morning paper. Thankfully only landed on my butt once or twice.

It sure is, it's an ice arena here today. I sure hope it's only your pride that hurts tomorrow morning.

Sorry to hear that fly. I know the feeling of being butt on the ground and wondering how’s I get here?
I bought some Rockport boots with non slip soles that work pretty good. When it gets real bad I put on cleats that go over the boots.
Be careful brother. My mother slipped and hit her head and she wasn’t right for a long time.

Slip Sliding Away.
Be careful the ground can do damage. One time came out of my house and snow on top of ice my feet went up my butt down. I ended up with a bruise of outline of my handgun imprinted on my right side.
