I can just imagine the bee hive's control tower speaking:

All you bees anxious to get out and find some necter, keep your range to within a few hundred yards so you won't get lost or run into a sudden freezing wind! You are not bullet proof, so be careful and stick to your flight plan. Control Tower, Out! Just Sayin...RJS

definitely not good. Put a 1:1 feeder about 25-30ft away if you can.

We feed confectioner sugar to our bees directly in the hive. If you put out remoted feeders the wild bees will take it.

you're west coast. we do it differently here. wild bees are not an issue after a couple of hard freezes.

I give the bee keeping a try for a few years. Kinda a pain in the butt. Momma would get kinda grumpy when I collected the honey the kitchen would get kinda sticky.

I can imagine inside would be an issue, we spin everything out in the outbuildings and rarely work bees in the rain as it makes them grumpy!! Usually don't even have to suit up if just working a few hives.
