Power-bait in a non-stocked lake

I live on Hayden Lake in north Idaho and have been fishing power-bait under a bobber from my dock and haven't had a nibble. My lake isn't stocked so am I wasting my time with power-bait? I've heard it's only for stocked fish. TIA

Loose the bobber, you'll have a better chance.

Try a slip sinker above a swivel. Tie 3 feet or so of 4-6lb leader and a size 6 or 8 Octopus style hook to the swivel. You should catch 'em. Hayden has a good fishing reputation. Might also switch it up and mix in some mini-marshmallows and a piece of night crawler. Want it to float a couple of feet off the bottom. Talk with other fishermen (and women) and see what they are using. Good luck!

Powerbait was never a bobber bait....it floats...2 floating things...nah.
Powerbait on a #14-16 treble, just enough to cover the hook, 18-36" up, a baby split shot with an egg sinker, 1/4-1/2 oz sliding above . Toss out, prop your rod up, tip visible, take up the slack, getting a little drag along the bottom (so you know it's free to move), crack a beer, pay attention to the twitch.
If there are trout, they will visit. Good luck !
