As I posted last week, my wife broke a rod. And I was going to throw it away. But a buddy of mine suggested that regardless of the cause Ugly Stik would replace the rod if it snapped like that.

Is this true? Worth it to try to contact them about it?

Yes they will. One of the Bait Sporting goods stores here will just tell the customer to give it to them and pick the new one. Of course that's if they bought it from him. He sends them back for new ones.
Oops. Try here, good luck.

Maybe under warranty. ; )

Or maybe you can just but the top half from them.

Maybe if I only owned one rod, I could remember when and where I purchased it. And to keep track of my receipts? I would be completely out of luck.

Yep, I know the feeling well. But then most of mine are so old they are not sold any more, even on EBay.lol But they still work good.

Most likely snagged and yanked hard. I have a 1/4 inch drive extension that i keep in my pocket for snags. Wrap the line around it 6-7 times and with the rod pointed at the snag walk backwards until it frees or the line breaks. A wood Dowel or a Phillips screwdriver would also work. That way the line doesn't dig into the reel and give me a "Pop Cast" on the next cast. I could not believe the guy on UTube saying hold the spool and back up. At least he kept the rod pointed at the snag and not bent.

They replaced mine but that was about 30 years ago. I don't know if they still do.

Well, even if they don't, they aren't a lot of money for a new one.
Specially if you subtract what the shipping will cost you to the company if you send it back.
