On to serious stuff! Being flush with Tackle warehouse gift cards from Christmas….i need a good filet knife….
On the recommendations of the tackle shop guys, i have been using Dexter knives….i gotta say im not impressed….seem to be more hacking and sawing than cutting, even after sharpening.

Ive heard Bubba knives are good…Rapall also…..figured id ask the experts.

What do you guys use and like?

I have a Rapala and have nothing but good things to say about it.
I have used a buddy’s Bubba and although impressed by the grip, couldn’t justify spending 3 times as much.

Danger I have used the same Rapala knife for 40 + years and still like it. I have used others that people have given me for gifts but the Rapala is still my go to knife 🔪

I'm with you Cam I been using a Rapala for at least 30 years, rarely needs sharpening and I've cleaned thousands of Crappie with it.

I have to agree with Danger, I have used the same Rapala knife that my dad gave me in 1970. Rarely needs sharpening and gives clean cuts

most all knives are good if you keep them sharp and avoid cutting ribs and back bones very often. I use a bubba only because it was a gift.

I hear you re: diminishing quality. I wonder if you could find a vintage one in good condition on eBay…?

Mine is over 40 years old, but I doubt the new ones are of poor quality. I believe the new ones are also available with a molded rubber grip. That would be nice, but the wooden handled knives float (just in case). They hold an edge and are flexible for fileting.
