Interesting situation happening in Nashville TN.
The wife just received a message from her brother and sister-in-law, showing that the TVA is doing rolling blackouts due to a lack of power in Nashville They were told to expect power outages to last 10 minutes out of each hour between now and January 2. I was wondering if this is happening throughout the state.
(Would love to hear from Ghaynes or any other stagers to see if this is happening state wide)
I know the TVA draws down the lakes they control in the state this time of year and I am wondering if they need to rethink that process and would also like to know if the power production from those turbines is even used within the state of Tennessee. I know that the power produced through Bull Shoals dam in Arkansas does not go into the grid to supply that state as it goes to Oklahoma and Texas. Just would like more info to try and understand why we are being sent back to the dark ages.
Any comments are appreciated.

This doesn't look good for a lot of folk in that area. There has been no response from the wife's brother since they said there was an issue there. Fortunately here in central Illinois the winds are settling down and the real temp is up to 5°. That is already 5° warmer than we got yesterday. Still -21° windchill.

I thought Texas did not have any grids going in or out of the state.

Looked it up they can get small amounts from other states. I'll ask my sister in Sparta if that's happening to them

My bil responded with the info that the TVA has let the petroleum based power plants go down so they now lack in power supply. He said that hydro electric production at Oak Ridge is powering the state.
And these are the brilliant people controlling things.
Just saying

Gordon: I believe you are correct. Texas is self-contained, and provides all its own power. However, last year that cold spell caught the state with its britches down around its ankles and we almost froze. My wife and I had to move to a friend's house because they had a fireplace and were burning wood. Just Sayin...RJS

In all respect, my topic wasn't about where power is sent even though it is stated that Southwestern Power Administration that gets power from the White River dam system does indeed send it's produced power to Oklahoma and Texas, but rather the issue of groups putting citizens who have paid for a product to be produced and supplied, in danger of injury or death in the name of clean energy.
When our local Serria club leaders stated this past year as our local and most modern and clean burning coal fired power plant was shut down, was not their intention, to me the problem is that we were not prepared with alternative power sources to replace what was and is being removed from service to keep us as citizens safe and also to keep the U.S. moving forward.
It is hard to believe that a city like Nashville is dealing with this type of a situation in soon to be 2023. I also felt this way about Texas and other places that have dealt with rolling blackouts and total power failure due to upgrades not being accomplished. Those of us that pay our power bills timely should be able to rely on ample supply to stay safe especially when conditions require the need.

We live North of Murfreesboro,Tn and experience a “Brown Out” yesterday!! The TVA has let its guard down and has put millions of people in danger of being frozen to death in the name of “Green Energy”!!! This BS from this administration and government has got to stop!! I’m in favor of all the above “BUT” only when we can supply that energy at full 100%!!! For you guys who are not “ effected” yet…it’s coming to your home very shorty!!! Call or text your Rep. and Senators and give them an ear full!! Let’s get Clean Coal back to work for our Nation!!!!

Maybe not enough Sun and Wind?
My best fishing spot was in the warm water discharge of a coal fired power plant 3 miles from my house but the Sierra Club shut it down.

HOW DOES A PRIVATE ORGANIZATION DO THAT?

Picket lines, letter writing campaigns, lobbying, etc. PSE&G spent hundreds of millions of dollars to upgrade the power plant, then shut it down. Check out //sierraclub.org. They are trying to close every coal fired power plant in the world. They lost their tax exempt status because of their lobbying.
I was just thinking, just imagine how cold it would be everywhere if we didn't have Global warming? Some are really making money because of it.

Hey NJ, that is exactly what happened here as I said the most modern and updated power plant was the one they shut down. Three years ago they upgraded their lines to a nearby substation and proposed going across our property only to be currently dismantling that same substation now. Millions of dollars paid out for property acquisition, 20 miles of new towers and lines and the year plus of labor for hundreds of workers and then just shut it down. It really makes us wonder who makes these decisions and why it couldn't have been worked out.
